Thabo finished his logistics certificate in 2023 and has been applying for work ever since. A childhood accident and years without access to a dentist left him with several broken and missing front teeth.

He is confident on paper and quiet in person. In his own words: "I stopped smiling before I stopped hoping." His nomination came from a community centre volunteer who has coached him through nine interviews.

With restorative treatment, Thabo can eat properly again and walk into a room without a hand in front of his face.
